1. What is PerkChoice with Cash & Miles and how does it differ from a Promotional Cash & Miles offer?  

PerkChoice allows customers to use SkyMiles miles for one half of a roundtrip and cash for the other. This new product provides options for SkyMiles members if they don't have enough miles for a roundtrip award ticket, or if an award seat is available on only one way of the trip. PerkChoice will not replace the popular Cash and Miles promotions; rather it is a new program feature that is available on every Northwest flight year-round. There are no time or date restrictions on any Northwest flights when using PerkChoice.

2. How do I book a PerkChoice ticket on nwa.com?  
  1. From our home page www.nwa.com
  2. Select Search by SkyMiles Award Travel / PerkChoice
  3. Fill in your desired itinerary
  4. Click "Search Flights"
  5. Resident of United States is assumed, if this is incorrect select Worldwide Sites from the top right corner of the home page. A new page will appear allowing you to select your country of residence. Follow the same steps as indicated above.
  6. Select the mileage fare or cash fare that you desire for your outbound flight, click "Continue"
  7. Select the mileage fare or cash fare that you desire for your return flight, click "Continue"
  8. If you are satisfied with the summary of the itinerary you have selected, click "Continue with Purchase". You may also view a How to Book PerkChoice Demo on nwa.com.
3. Can I use First Class and/or BusinessElite cash fares to purchase a PerkChoice ticket?  

Yes, both Coach and First/BusinessElite cash fares will be offered within the PerkChoice option.

4. Are PerkSaver and PerkPass award levels both options for use with PerkChoice tickets?   

Yes, PerkSaver and PerkPass awards can both be used to purchase a PerkChoice ticket.

5. Can I book one-way travel with my SkyMiles miles? 

Your SkyMiles miles can be used to book roundtrip, multi-city or PerkChoice itineraries; however they can not be used for one-way trips.

6. Will I earn SkyMiles miles on the cash portion of my PerkChoice ticket?  

Effective for tickets purchased on or after September 12, 2008, SkyMiles miles will be awarded for travel only on the cash portion of the ticket.

PerkChoice tickets issued prior to September 12, 2008 are not eligible to earn SkyMiles miles.

7. Why doesn't the Award Calendar appear when I am searching for Award flights? 

The calendar will not display if you are searching for Promotional Cash & Miles fares, upgrades or Multi-city itineraries, however the Award Calendar will display when searching for PerkChoice fares.

8. Can I use miles to book a PerkChoice ticket for a friend or other family members?  

Yes.

9. I have a PerkChoice reservation. Can I upgrade my flights using additional SkyMiles miles?  

Effective for tickets purchased on or after September 12, 2008 SkyMiles mileage upgrades are permitted only on the cash portion of the ticket. Mileage upgrade requests are available through Northwest Reservations at 1-800-44-PERKS (1-800-447-3757).

PerkChoice tickets issued prior to September 12, 2008 are not eligible for SkyMiles mileage upgrades.

10. Am I eligible for an Elite Upgrade with my PerkChoice ticket? 

Effective for PerkChoice tickets issued on or after September 12, 2008 Elite member upgrades are allowed for all elite tiers only on the cash portion of the ticket.

PerkChoice tickets issued prior to September 12, 2008 are not eligible for Elite member upgrades or Elite member companion upgrades.

11. Can I cancel my PerkChoice Award ticket and get a refund?  

Wholly unused PerkChoice tickets issued on or after September 12, 2008 may have the miles redeposited for a fee. SkyMiles Medallion members are not exempt from this fee. If the cash portion of the PerkChoice ticket was issued with a refundable fare type, the value will be refunded back to the original form of payment (less the fee). If the cash portion was issued with a non-refundable fare type, the value is forfeited.

PerkChoice tickets issued at nwa.com prior to September 12, 2008 are nonrefundable and the cash value may not be applied towards tickets for future travel. Miles from wholly unused tickets may be redeposited within one year of issue for a fee per transaction per account. Platinum Elite members are exempt from the redeposit fee. Miles will be redeposited into the original mileage banking account.

Exception: The Customers First Refund Rule applies to all PerkChoice tickets, regardless of ticketing date. When reservations are made and tickets are purchased on the same day, refunds are permitted at no charge up to 1 day after tickets are purchased and mileage may be redeposited for no fee.

12. Can I make changes to my PerkChoice Award ticket?  

Effective for PerkChoice tickets issued on or after September 12, 2008 itinerary changes are permitted for a fee. SkyMiles Medallion members are not exempt from this fee. The origin, destination and/or travel dates may be changed on wholly unused tickets, and may also be exchanged for another PerkChoice, all-cash, or all Award fare.

Partially used PerkChoice tickets allow flight or date changes only to the return portion of the ticket for a fee, provided the changes meet all the provisions of the program, including but not limited to booking class, minimum/maximum stay and travel date requirements. If the unused return portion of the ticket is an award fare, it may be exchanged for a cash fare. Itinerary change requests are available at nwa.com Manage My Reservations for PerkChoice tickets issued on or after September 12, 2008.

The origin and destination cannot be changed on PerkChoice tickets issued at nwa.com prior to September 12, 2008. Flight or date changes to the return portion of the ticket can be made any time for a fee, provided the changes meet all the provisions of the program, including but not limited to booking class, minimum/maximum stay and travel date requirements. A mileage redeposit fee will also apply for itinerary changes. Platinum Elite members are exempt from the redeposit fee. Change requests are available only through NWA Reservations at 1-800-44-PERKS (1-800-447-3757).

13. Can these changes be made at nwa.com?  

Effective for PerkChoice tickets issued on or after September 12, 2008 itinerary changes are permitted at nwa.com Manage My Reservations or through NWA reservations at 1-800-44-PERKS (1-800-447-3757).

Itinerary change requests for PerkChoice tickets issued prior to September 12, 2008 are available only through NWA Reservations at 1-800-44-PERKS (1-800-447-3757).
