Takeoff and In-Flight

Preparing for Takeoff

For helpful information regarding in-flight services and policies, visit the In-flight section of nwa.com. You can also find programming and availability details about Northwest's on-board entertainment in the back of the WorldTraveler in-flight magazine.

1. Can I use my cell phone during this time?

Northwest permits customers to use their cell phones during the boarding process and until the aircraft door has been closed. At that time the flight attendant will announce that cell phones may no longer be used since they may interfere with the communication and navigation of the aircraft.

Cellular telephones (including when in walkie-talkie mode) may also be used during taxi at U.S. cities after the aircraft turns off the active runway.

2. What happens if I get sick during my flight?

Northwest has a longstanding relationship with the Mayo Clinic which provides in-flight medical advice for Northwest customers via an air-to-ground connection.

Our flight attendants are trained in CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation), first aid procedures and in the use of automated external defibrillators which, along with expanded medical kits and heart monitoring equipment, have been installed on all Northwest aircraft.
